Waterville

Located in the famous Ring of Kerry, is a hidden gem and has been host to some of the best golfers in the world. It has been described as a mystical place full of power yet grace. Its a pure links challenge! Tom Fazio re-designed some of the holes in 2003. Waterville presented a bronze statue to the widow of the late Payne Stewart as a tribute to his accomplishments as he enjoyed many rounds there.

Tralee

Located near Killarney. This course was Arnold Palmer’s first European design. The course has wonderful scenery on the Barrow peninsula and is surrounded by the sea on three sides. The front nine is gentle, but the back nine is a tougher test of golf.

The K Club

The K Clubs Palmer Course is widely acknowledged as the country’s most challenging inland layout. The Palmer Course is, quite simply, one of Europe’s most spectacular courses. It charms, it entices and invariably, brings out the very best in your game.

Barassie

Kilmarnock-Barassie Golf Club The course itself is an Open Championship Final Qualifying venue with a well deserved reputation for some of the best maintained greens in Scotland. The new nine holes are now part of the championship course and have added a different dimension to Barassie with a Par of 72 and a Standard Scratch of 74. The course is tough, but is typically what Scottish Links golf is about – large undulating greens, deep bunkers and doglegs. The course has generated some excellent publicity recently having been host for the British Amateur Championships in June 2001 along with Prestwick Golf Club and played host to the European Youths Championships the previous year.

Royal Portrush

Recent host of the 2004 Senior British Open, this Harry Colt design is among the best in the UK if not the world. The golf course is breathtaking with great views of the Giant’s Causeway and over to the islands of Islay and Jura in the West Coast of Scotland. In addition to hosting The British Open in 1951, Royal Portrush has hosted virtually every major Irish Championship.

Portstewart

Portstewart Golf Club Located near the town of Portrush, this club offers two courses: the Strand course and the Old course. The Strand Course, opened in 1992, is the jewel in Portstewart’s crown. 18 championship holes, 6779 yards, par 72, it presents a true test of golf set in classic links country amid towering sand dunes with views at every turn of the blue Donegal hills, the rolling Atlantic and the tranquil estuary of the River Bann. Portstewart is fortunate to be located on Ulster’s famous Causeway Coast and although nobody has yet found any evidence that the Giant ever wielded a mashie the game has deep roots in these parts. Portstewart celebrated its centenary in 1994 and is proud to offer some of the finest golf to be found in Ireland or indeed anywhere else.

Royal County Down

This amazing course will host the 2007 Walker Cup. Laid out beneath the impressive Mountains of Mourne and stretching along the Dundrum Bay this course rates consistently in the top 10 in the world. “It is not only one of the finest tests in golf but has spellbinding scenery as well. The smaller course, the Annesley, is less formidable but a great test of links golf on it’s own right.

Portmarnock

There are no tricks or nasty surprises, only an honest, albeit searching test of shotmaking skills. Invariably rated as Irelands best course in ballots by the Irish Golf Institute, Portmarnock takes justifiable pride in its 27 holes, which are maintained to the highest standards. Within the curve of the coastline formed by Howth peninsula, it offers stunning views of Irelands Eye and Lambay Island, rising sharply from deep waters. But above all, there is the charm of its delightful turf, the wildness, the solitude of the sandhills and the sea, and the ever-present challenge of the wind.

Old Head

Located about an hour from Cork airport and 20 minutes from the quaint town of Kinsale. Old Head has more spectacular holes and stunning vistas than any other golf course in the world. This 220 acre piece of land juts out 2 miles into the Atlantic Ocean. The sea and cliffs are in play as well as strong prevailing winds.

Island Golf Club

The Island Golf Club is one of Ireland’s Premier Links Courses. A mere 15 minutes from Dublin Airport. This links course is located across the estuary from the quaint village of Malahide, just North of Portmarnock. This beautiful links course, in splendid isolation, is surrounded by the Irish Sea, Donabate Beach and Broadmeadow Estuary. Nestling between the highest sand dunes of any links course in Ireland, it’s rugged beauty cannot fail to impress

European Club

A golf course is generally the result of a combination of efforts from the developer, the architect, his crew and the superintendent through to the usual army of investors, bankers, and lawyers. The European Club is fortunate not to have pandered to so many mixed interests; rather, it is the creation of one man. The combination of rugged dunes, deep bunkers, sea breezes and large undulating greens calls on the golfer to display strength of character, an ability to think and shot making skills. Fast running fairways, greens that invite the pitch-and-run approach and acres of tall, waving marram grass and golden-flowered gorse are the very essence of golf as it was at the beginning and was always meant to be.

Doonbeg

Doonbeg Golf Club plays along 1.5 miles of beach and dunes. The ocean is visible from the green, fairway, or tee of 16 of the 18 holes. The par 72 layout features a single loop of nine holes out and nine back. It plays 6,885 yards from the back tees. Greg Norman describes his course as sand dunes “like you’ll never see again, this is the best site…I’ve had to work with. I’m the luckiest designer in the world! With completion of the Lodge and spectacular Clubhouse in late 2005, this course and resort will be on the map of world golf destinations.

County Louth

In close proximity to Dublin County Louth held the Nissan Irish Open in 2004. Designed by Tom Simpson, it’s generally considered to have the best well-guarded and attractive greens in Ireland.County Louth Golf Club or “Baltray” as it is more affectionately known is situated 4 miles from the historic town of Drogheda at the mouth of the river Boyne. With the river to the south and the Irish Sea to the east. This is Links golf at is very best, with only the muted murmur of a ships engine to break the sounds of nature, as it quietly wends its way up river to the port. Rated in Golf Digest’s top 100 courses in the world as a “hidden gem”. It is one of the top twenty five courses in the British Isles and it is in the top six in the island. Sometimes ferocious and other times benign, it provides competition for all handicaps. In today’s language it could well be described as “user friendly”.

Castle Rock

Castle Rock Golf Club Founded 1901, Castlerock Golf Club is situated in the seaside village of Castlerock which lies approximately five miles due West of the town of Coleraine on the North Coast of Northern Ireland. Castlerock consists of two courses the 18-hole Mussenden course and the nine-hole Bann course. Both are traditional links courses built in a tract of land comprised mainly of sand dunes bounded on the north by the sea, on the east by the River Bann, on the south by the railway and on the west by the clubhouse.

Ballyliffin Glasheady Links

Work on the ‘new’ course began in 1970, that is what we now know as the ‘old’ links. At first 9 holes were prepared for play and eventually by 1973 eighteen holes were in play. Eddie Hackett who was the golfing architect attached to Bord Failte, visited the course on several occasions and helped to lay out the playing holes, although it is true to say that two English architects visited the course as well and gave their views on how it should be laid out. They were Lawrie and Pennick. In the final analysis, the course which emerged, perhaps took something from each of them, and quite a few suggestions from Martin Hopkins were incorporated in the final pattern.

Ballybunion

Tom Watson in 1995 undertook what was for him a labor of love updating the Old course. It consistently ranks in the top 10 in the world and is one of the most sought after tee times in Ireland! For scenic beauty, peace, playing conditions and rich golfing quality and challenge, Ballybunion is supreme. The other course, the Cashen, designed by Robert Trent Jones, with narrow fairways, small greens and large dunes this course is also world class.

Ardglass

Ardglass Golf Club Arglass is a scenic cliff-top seaside golf course with spectacular views and some memorable holes. Nearly every hole on the course plays parallel to the rugged coastline of the Irish sea. Being located near one of the worlds’ greats, Royal County Down Golf Club, Adglass doesn’t get the acolade it righly desreves but rather stays as one of Irelands true hidden jems. If you want to enjoy stunnning seaside golf at a tradtional Irish golf club, Ardglass is the place.

Adare Manor

Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort is a 19th Century estate situated within the picturesque village of Adare. The Adare Golf Course opened in 1995 and was designed and built by the world famous architect Robert Trent Jones Sr. stretching 7138 yards from championship tees down to 5082 yards (Incorporating 4 tees per hole). The Golf Course is a majestic design with rock-walled streams, sutle undulating putting surfaces with the Jones signature clover leaf bunkers. A 14 acre lake dominates the front nine holes while the back nine is routed through wooded land. Adding beauty to all of this, the River Maigue meanders through the course creating a sense of beauty and challenge.

Western Gailes

Western Gailes is as fine a true links course as can be found almost anywhere in the British Isles. Like all Scottish links courses, the weather plays an important part in every round of golf. When the wind blows at Gailes, the long stretch from the 6th to the 13th is not only a trial of skill and strength, but something of an endurance test as well. If not for its more famous neighbors, Western Gailes would be renowned the world over as being the finest links course in western Scotland. As it stands, many golfers will tell you it’s the best.

Turnberry- Ailsa Course Advanced

Home to the Open in 1994, The Ailsa Course has been referred to as The Pebble Beach of Scotland as its’ constant sea views make many say it is the most beautiful of all the Scottish links. The course served as an allied airbase during WWII but was ressurrected in the 1950’s and returned to it former glory. You may notice that the use of more modern tractors and tools have shaped flatter and more friendly fairways.

Its sister course, The Kintyre, is also a fine test of golf.

Trump Links Aberdeen

The central focus of the development is the golf course designed by Dr. Martin Hawtree, the acknowledged master of links golf course architecture. The championship golf course will be a classical Scottish links. The course will have a Par of 72 and a maximum length of just over 7400 yards. The golf course follows a classical pattern of two out-and-back loops of nine holes. All 18 holes thread their way engagingly through the dunes, rising to find views of the sea and coastline, plunging into secluded valleys, offering a sequence of superlative topography, landscape, alternating spaciousness and enclosure, panoramic views, a rich texture of vegetation and wildlife habitats surrounding the golf holes. Each hole will have 5 separate tees catering for all classes of golfer. Bunkers will be placed to challenge the stronger player and not unduly punish the weaker golfer. Bunkers will be turf-revetted in traditional style to combat wind and erosion and sand-blow. Greens have been sited in natural promontories and valleys and will be featured in relation to their setting.

St. Andrews – Old Course

Universally recognized as the home of golf, The Old Course is virtually an out and back course. Without wind, it can lay down and play very easy. However, with a bit of wind, it will show its defenses, and true character. When you consider that every golfer you have heard of has teed it up on this hallowed ground, you can see why this is one of the most sought after tee times in the world. The feeling you experience standing of the first tee is like no other in the world- ENJOY!

St. Andrews – New Course

Opened in 1895 and laid out by Tom Morris, it is considered by many as one of the best courses on the links and is hardly “new” !! Many of the country’s largest amateur events are regularly held on this course and scoring is usually significantly higher than the Old Course. With a much better layout and easier access than the Old Course, the New is a worthy option if you want to play in St.Andrews.

St Andrews – Castle Course

The experience of playing the Castle Course will be a treat for the senses. The North Sea is a visible presence on every hole while the view towards St Andrews is one of the finest possible. Although the Castle Course is not a links course it has been designed with the Scottish links tradition very much in mind. The approaches to the green will be similar to the greens themselves so that running shots will be playable as well as pitches. Also in the Scottish tradition, the grasses being cultivated at the site are a bent and fescue mix. Fescues will also feature strongly in the extensive areas of natural rough and wild meadow which will provide a variety of habitats for wildlife including the very rare maiden pink species which has been found on the 220 acre (90 hectare) site. The construction of the Castle Course has been a model development, with full consideration given to environmental factors.

Southport & Ainsdale Golf Club

The Southport & Ainsdale Golf Club, or the S&A as it is affectionately known, is part of the chain of links courses spread along the North West coastline. The entire course is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, with toads and squirrels resident among its sand dunes and heath land. The current course was designed by James Braid, who alongside Henry Varden and J H Taylor, dominated British professional golf in the first half of the 20th Century. Much of Braid’s original layout survives to this day and the fine par four, third hole, is named in his honour. The traditional feel of the links has been retained through the years, with S&A making the worthwhile effort to control the spread of trees and bushes and keep the character of the course. So impressive is the course that one golf magazine named it among the top 50 golf courses in Great Britain.

Royal Troon

Royal Troon is a classic links course in every respect. The British Open has been played here 7 times and boasts legendary champions such as Locke, Palmer, and Watson. Don’t let the gentle opening stretch of holes fool you- the back nine is as tough as any in the world and the players in the Open Championship regularly score 3 or 4 shots higher on the backside. Be prepared to hit every club in your bag. Of all the Open Courses, Royal Troon is probably the most comprehensive of tests.

Royal Lytham & St. Anne’s

Nestling between two busy seaside resorts, the Royal Lytham and St. Annes Golf Course is one of the most unique courses in the rotation of the British Open. It is a links in every sense of the word, with sandy soil and the wind blowing in from the Irish Sea. Open to the elements, the trees on the course permanently lean sideways, with the wind often proving a formidable competitor in the homeward five holes of the course. Unusually, the course is set amongst a Victorian housing estate, and occupies a limited piece of land, with red-brick houses in plain view. Located nearby are the St. Annes train station with the railway line running adjacent to the first nine holes of the course.

Lahinch

This course which was originally designed by Tom Morris and later modified by Dr. Alister MacKenzie. At one time or another it has hosted every important Irish golf tournament. Deep valleys, large sand dunes, blind shots are some of the magnificent qualities of the special course.

Royal Liverpool

The Royal Liverpool course at Hoylake started life as the racecourse of the Liverpool Hunt Club, set on the shores of the Dee and with the Welsh hills in the distance. As a reminder of its previous life, the original saddling bell is displayed among the memorabilia in the clubhouse. The golf course was built in 1869 and, with the exception of Westward ho! in Devon, is the oldest seaside course in England. It is also one of the great links courses. The club is a place of firsts: the first Amateur in 1885; the first international match between England and Scotland in 1902; the first international between Great Britain and the United States in 1921, now known as the Walker Cup.

Royal Dornoch

Royal Dornoch is considered the finest northerly course in the world, and no other course offers such a complete feeling of getting away from it all or better still provides the pieces of natural seaside beauty , challenge and enjoyment and shot values. Dornoch is the home of famed golf course architecht, Donald Ross. Although he didn’t design the course, he did redesign parts of the course. Many green complexes clearly show small brushstrokes of his masterful work.

Royal Birkdale

This course has been the stage for many great golf championships including the Walker Cup, the Curtis Cup and the Ryder Cup. On eight occasions the greatest championship, The Open, has been played here and in 2005 the club will be the venue for The Amateur Championship, for the third time. Royal Birkdale is the host of the Weetabix Women’s British Open. Each hole runs through a landscape of high dunes, the fairways are flat and fair and from the tee there is generally a clear view of the task ahead. Each hole is memorable, from The Open Championship tee the 13th measure 498 yards, one of the longest par 4s in championship golf.

Royal Aberdeen

Royal Aberdeen Golf Club This is the sixth oldest course in the world, founded in 1780. The first thirty-five years it was known as the Society of Golfers at Aberdeen. The club consists of two courses: the Belgownie Links originally designed by the Simpson Brothers, Archie and Robert. The main characteristic of this course is that all 18 holes run along side the North Sea. The second course, Silverburn, is smaller and newer, but challenging in it’s own right.

Prestwick

Prestwick was founded in 1851 and was the setting for the first 12 British Opens. Its original layout has not changed much over the years, as witness to its often controversial blind shots. It can be argued that Prestwick Golf Club is every bit as historically significant as the Royal & Ancient in St. Andrews. If you enjoy tradition, you will love this magnificent links.

North Berwick

North Berwick The 13th oldest golf club in the world, North Berwick is second only to the Royal & Ancient Club in St. Andrews for continuous play over the same course. The West Links was originally 6 holes, with a 7th added before it was extended to 18 holes in 1877. One of the most natural links in the world, North Berwick may not be the longest of courses at 6,420 yards but rest assured that successful navigation requires the full repertoire of shot making.

The course has been described as being from a primitive age, a statement that must not be perceived as taking anything away from its undeniable quality. The simple fact is that North Berwick has to a large extent evolved naturally with little assistance from mankind, a fact reflected in the name of the principle course architect – Mother Nature herself.

Nairn

This Traditional Scottish Golf Links Course was created on the shores of the Moray Firth from a Highland wilderness of whins and heather, and tests the talents of professional and amateur alike. Founded in 1887, it is now one of the best courses in Scotland, and hosted the 1999 Walker Cup. Nairns truly remarkable feature is that from every hole you can see the Moray Firth and the golden colouring and changing lights of the Black Isle. Even more extraordinary  only too easily you can strike the ball into the sea on every one of the first seven!

Murcar

The Murcar Championship Golf Links has a par of 71 and a standard scratch rating of 72 (USGA rating 71.6 and USGA slope rating 136). Murcar Links frequently features in the Top 100 courses in the UK and is in the VisitScotland Top 40 Great Scottish Links Collection as evidenced by the fact that in 2005, it hosted pre-qualifying for the British Senior Open. The testing Murcar Links hosts many national amateur championships and professional tournaments. In 2006, its reputation is such that the Murcar Links is playing host to: the European Challenge Tour’s Scottish Challenge and the British Boys Plate. Established in 1909 to the design of Archie Simpson, with later refinements made in the 1930’s by the celebrated golf course designer James Braid, Murcar is indeed a Championship links of some renown, in the finest of Scottish traditions.

Muirfield

Muirfield (The Honorable Company of Edinburgh Golfers) The Honorable Company of Edinburgh Golfers has hosted 15 Open Championships. The most recent was in 2002, when Ernie Els was crowned the champion golfer of the year. Muirfield was designed in 1891 by Old Tom Morris and is simply one of the best golf courses in the world. Jack Nicklaus has great respect for these links and had paid Muirfield the ultimate compliment by naming his own course, in Dublin Ohio, Muirfield Village. Thick rough and the 151 bunkers, many of which are cavernous, make Muirfield a severe, but fair, test of golf. If you are fortunate enough to spend a day at Muirfield, make sure to bring a collar and tie so you can enjoy a sumptouos lunch in the historic clubhouse followed by 18 holes of alternate shot in the afternoon.

Machrihanish

Machrihanish Golf Club is truly a magnificent Scottish hidden gem, this is a mere 14 minute plane journey from nearby Prestwick Airport. Machrihanish was originally called the Kintyre Golf Club. By 1888, Kintyre was felt too dull a name for such a special course and it was changed “in consequence of some members preferring the sonorousness of the word Machrihanish.” Suffice it to say that Machrihanish offers a series of fourteen holes the likes of which you will find nowhere else. These include a multitude of intriguing blind shots across the most appealing undulations, to immaculate greens kept by a crew of four and the nurturing temperate winds of the Gulf Stream. Machrihanish became in the 1990’s what Royal Dornoch was to the 1980’s: The distant, eccentric prize for those who collect golf destinations for better or worse.

Kingsbarns

Kingsbarns Golf Club This four year old links has already become one of the top 100 rated courses in the world. The location of the links enjoys the most stunning views imaginable for a golf course. Indeed many people feel that the unspoiled views of coastline and sea are superior to legenardy golf beauty spots such as Pebble Beach and Cypress Point. The Kingsbarns Golf Links site has long been known for its intimate connection with the sea. The fact that it’s golf origins date back to 1793 is testimony to the attributes of the site which foster ideal conditions for links turf to flourish amid interesting natural terrain. This unique part of East Fife has sandy soils, undulating ridges and hollows, Cambo burn running into the sea, all set immediately against the rugged coastline of the North Sea.

Irvine Bogside

Irvine Bogside is a traditional links course with narrow and undulating fairways. Established over 100 years ago, it owes much of its present day character to the design work of James Braid. The ground rolls and bobs over ancient dune terrain, divided by gorse and heather between Irvine town, a racecourse and the River Irvine. Every hole has its own identity and the greens are fast and true. The course presents a challenge to golfers of all abilities with its subtle changes in direction and demands accurate shot making. The Irvine Club, Bogside was one of the local Final Qualifying courses for the Open Championship in 2004.

Hillside Golf Club

Hillside lies almost side by side with the Royal Birkdale course, amid a stretch of sandhills near Southport. Indeed, the quality of the individual holes is such that golfers may find it difficult to separate the two. Typical of the links courses on the Northwest coastline, Hillside is open to the wind coming in from the Irish Sea and laid out in a truly stunning setting, the course is a true test for golfers of all handicaps. Since 1967, Hillside has hosted several prestigious championships. In the late 1970s, the British Ladies Championship and Amateur Championship were held; in the 1980s the European PGA Championship and The Amateur Championship; in the 1990s the English Open Amateur and the International European Amateur.

Gullane No.1

The eighteen holes of Gullane No.1 Course were established in 1884. The well maintained greens, links grasses, numerous bunkers and sea breezes make a unique challenge for the serious golfer. The 3rd hole was recently voted one of the top 500 holes in the world by Golf Magazine (USA). The world famous view from the highest point of the Course on the 7th tee across the course and over to Edinburgh, Fife and way beyond is worth the green fee alone. With every hole having its own distinct character, the Course is both memorable and enjoyable.

Gleneagles – Queen’s

The Queen’s Course, in its long history, has played host to some of the world’s golfing greats. Threading through high ridges on the north and west sides of the estate, the Queen’s offers lovely woodland settings, lochans and ditches as water hazards, as well as many moorland characteristics. This resort located in Central Scotland, offers four wonderful parkland courses.

Gleneagles – King’s

The King’s Course, opened in 1919, is a masterpiece of design which has tested the aristocracy of golf, both professional and amateur. This resort located in Central Scotland, offers four wonderful parkland courses. James Braid’s plan for the King’s Course was to test even the best players’ shot-making skills over the eighteen holes. When they play the King’s the world’s greatest golfers admire the cunning and craft with which he acheived that goal. All the courses boast plenty of heather, tall pines, raised & contoured greens, water hazards, beautiful views of the Grampain Mountains.

Gleneagles – PGA

The PGA Centenary Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, is a modern classic. From the back tees, the PGA Centenary Course measures 7,088 yards, the longest inland course in Scotland. However, the tees are graded at each hole in five stages, including a challenging 6,558 yards from the white markers down to 5,072 from the red. Fittingly, the PGA Centenary Course begins by playing southeast towards the famed glen of the eagles sweeping up the Ochil Hills to the summit of the pass below Ben Shee which joins it to Glendevon. A feature of the PGA Centenary Course is the feast of views of the spectacular countryside in which Gleneagles is set. Putting on the two-tier second green, you are distracted by the lush panorama of the rich Perthshire straths. As you move westwards over the next few holes, the rugged Grampians come into view on the right, then distantly purple ahead, Ben Vorlich and the mountains above the Trossachs.

Glasgow Gailes

Glasgow Gailes Links is owned and managed by Glasgow Golf Club, the 9th oldest golf club in the world. Visitors are welcome to share the golfing traditions and excellent facilities enjoyed by the members. Less than an hour from Glasgow, Gailes is a challenging links course – tough and traditionally Scottish – consistently selected by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews as a final qualifying venue for the Open Championship, most recently for the Open Championships at Royal Troon in 2004.

Dundonald

Dundonald, opened in 2003, is the handiwork of California-based architect Kyle Phillips, who took Scotland and the golfing world by storm in 2000 with his first Scottish design effort, Kingsbarns, near St. Andrews. Taking an 18th century, nine-hole layout that had been turned over to farm use during the Second World War, Phillips demonstrated his respect for the traditional and a remarkable sensitivity toward the complex qualities that make Scottish links courses unique. With modern design technology, the determination to build a course that fitted into its surroundings and a tremendous concern to preserve links tradition, Phillips has produced nothing less than a links masterpiece.

Cruden Bay

Cruden Bay offers an internationally famous golfing experience – old fashioned links golf at its best – on one of the best links courses in Scotland, and last year was placed at No 52 in the world by “Golf Magazine”.

Cruden Bay Golf Course creates unique challenges demanding the skills of power, placement and fine judgement upon the discerning golfer. Set against a backdrop of subtly contoured greens and magnificent panoramic views, a visit to Cruden Bay will be a most memorable one. It is claimed that golf was played in the village of Cruden Bay as early as 1791. The original course, on the present site, was commissioned by the Great North of Scotland Railway (GNSR) following the expansion of the railways at the end of the 19th century, designed by Old Tom Morris of St Andrews, and opened in 1899.

Crail

Crail Golfing Society is the 7th Oldest Golf Club in the world founded in 1786. Golfing legend Old Tom Morris laid out the original nine holes at Balcomie in 1895 and in 1998 a second course, Craighead Links, was opened for play, providing a worthy alternative to its famous and historic neighbour.

Castle Stewart

Castle Stewart has been conceived to be for the Highlands  a beacon reaching out to golfers throughout the world. Undoubtedly the toughest of all the Open Championship venues. Since the infamous 1999 Open, Carnoustie has enjoyed a revival in both course condition and popularity. While it may not enjoy spectacular seaside views like many other Scottish links, it is the epitome of a championship course which requires both length and accuracy. If you appreciate what makes a great golf course, Carnoustie is a must play.
